Exports from Costa Rica grow 24% in the first half of 2023

So far in 2023, exports of Costa Rican products reached $9.061 million, $1.728 million more than the exports registered in the same period of 2022, which means an increase of 24%.

The 24% increase is the second highest in the last five years, according to the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER).

Overall, the agricultural sector experienced a 14% increase in exports. By product, the increase is reflected as follows:

  • – Ñampi: +74%
  • – Tiquisque: +49%
  • – Cassava: +47%
  • – Banana: +19%
  • – Pineapple: +13%
  • – Melon: +12%
  • Ornamental plants: +4%

"We celebrate this growth because it shows that, despite the enormous challenges and the external geopolitical context, our country has been able to increase its exports in all sectors and to all regions of the world", said the Minister of Foreign Trade, Manuel Tovar.

In terms of countries and regions to which Costa Rica exports, there are also positive numbers: exports to North America increased 30%, to Central America increased 28%, to Europe by 19%, Asia grew 19%, South America 16% and the Caribbean 9%.
