In 2021, Costa Rica exported goods for $1.2 million to Qatar and for $69 million to the entire Middle East,a number that almost tripled compared to 2018, with bananas being the Costa Rican product that is exported the most to these regions (source: La Nación and Procomer).
Qatar will host the next FIFA World Cup 2022 that will take place from November 20 to December 18.
In 2021 alone, $1.1 million worth of banana, but Costa Rican pineapples are also exported.
As for the Middle East, Costa Rican products are consumed in Saudi Arabia, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Bahrain and Egypt. These are bananas, coffee, pineapple, juices and fruit concentrates,among others.
